Water damage is not always limited to areas where water is visible. Moisture can spread behind walls, beneath flooring, and into insulation or structural materials. A water damage assessment helps determine the affected areas and identify the work needed to address the damage.
What the Job Involves
The property is inspected for visible water, stains, damp materials, and signs of hidden moisture. Moisture readings are taken where appropriate to help evaluate the condition of affected walls, floors, ceilings, and other building components.
Signs You Need It
- Recent leaks or flooding
- Water stains on walls or ceilings
- Damp flooring or carpet
- Swollen wood or cabinets
- Musty odors after water exposure
- Uncertainty about the extent of damage
How the Work Goes
The inspection begins with identifying the reported water source and visible damage. Affected areas are examined, and moisture readings help determine where additional drying or material removal may be needed. The findings are used to establish an appropriate water extraction, drying, cleanup, and repair plan.
What Affects the Cost
Cost depends on property size, number of affected rooms, inspection requirements, accessibility, and the complexity of the moisture problem. Assessments involving hidden moisture or multiple water intrusion points may require additional investigation.
